Sansevieria Trifasciata – commonly known as the snake plant – comes from Equatorial Africa. Leaves gathered into compact plant grant the plant its exotic beauty – meaty, sword-shaped, rounded with yellow rims and marked with irregular stripes. It is called the "iron plant" because of its incredible resistance to all human negligence. Moreover – it is an excellent air filter! It is a treasure of every amateur botanist.
How to care about Sansevieria Trifasciata?
The snake plant is forgiving and resistant, but in exchange for cleaning and filtering of air in the room, it definitely deserves comfortable conditions. It feels excellent at a bright place with disperse light or in a partial shade. The summer temperature should not exceed 24°C, and 15°C in the winter. The snake plant should be watered once a week in the summer and once every three weeks in the winter. Sprinkling and use of leaf gloss should be replaced with light cleaning using a cloth, acting on the plant as a relaxing SPA treatment. Sansevieria trifasciata is an extremely forgiving plant - it will forgive us dry air, forgotten watering, excessive shade or even too small a pot. There is, however, one thing it clearly does not like - excess water. If we want to keep it happy, we should avoid excess water, especially that it may cause in rotting of the leaf bases.
